August 24, 2021 In the Hebraic traditional sense, the Biblical “High Holy Days,” as I write this weekly devotional [8-24-2021], are only three weeks away from Yom Kippur [Day of Atonement]…which is Tishri 10 on the Hebrew calendar [Sept 16, 2021 on Gregorian calendar]. Tishrei 1, is Yom Teruah [Rosh Hashanah], and this 10 day period is said to be a time that one is to do deep introspection and self-examination… Consider this Proverb: “In mercy and truth, Atonement is provided for iniquity;” prov 16:6a nkjv The Scripture goes on to say, “And by fear of the LORD one departs from evil.” prov 16:6b nkjv Thankfully, mercy is extended to those who repent when they hear Yahweh’s “Word of Truth,” which reveals our need for Atonement for our iniquities. In all reality, we who follow our Messiah Yeshua [Jesus] in our daily walk, I think, should give thanks for our Salvation every day, and always have an awareness of deep respect and “fear of the LORD.” This is a purposed “state of mind,” and is part of growing in the likeness of Yeshua, and His teachings. The Psalmist wrote: “If You, Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?” ps 130:3 nkjv The Bible tells us the “...Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” rev 13:8 nkjv Had it not been for Yahweh’s foreordained love for us and His intent to be merciful in spite of our sins and Iniquities, what would become of us? Shalom… John |
| Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity." 2 tim 2:19 nkjv
