 “...that you may enter into covenant with the Lord your God, and into His oath, which the Lord your God makes with you today, 13 that He may establish you today as a people for Himself, and that He may be God to you, just as He has spoken to you, and just as He has sworn to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” deut 29:12-13 nkjv

“I make this covenant and this oath, not with you alone, 15 but with him who stands here with us today before the Lord our God, as well as with him who is not here with us today…” deut 29:14-15

These are remarkable words… The Creator of the Universe has chosen a people to be His very own, He tells them He has sworn an everlasting promise to [their] fathers, and He includes “him who is not here with us today;” It seems He includes future special [yet to be born people], “us” [believers in the Promise He made]… Paul speaks to this in gal 3:26-29 nkjv, as follows:

“For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

Paul’s word implies there is no one exempted who have “put on Christ.” This same thing is written in the Torah, when Yahweh renamed Abram, Abraham… “No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations.”  gen 17:5 nkjv    Now, When Yahweh delivered the children of Israel out of the bondage of Egyptian persecution, He first set them free, took them to a special place to begin shaping them into His people. After delivering them, he brought them to the great mountain [Sinai], where he wrote His Commandments on the two tablets of Stone, the Covenant He wanted for them… long story, made short, they broke their end of the “I do” promise to Yahweh, ultimately ending in their loss of the oversight of the land.

In what we see as the “New Covenant” we read these words in both Jeremiah and Hebrews:

“Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— 32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the Lord.” jer 31:31-32 nkjv   AND;

“Because finding fault with them, He says: Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— 9 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the Lord. 10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” heb 8:8-10 nkjv

When Israel failed to live, thankfully, faithfully and righteously in their inherited promised land, in covenant with Yahweh, He did just as He said He would do, He flushed them out of the land… in exile, and some will later be reunited as 12 tribes and consolidated as “one people” back in the land, cleansed, forgiven and restored [which is now a work in progress]. There are many prophecies about the restoration of Israel; especially, read Ezekiel chapter 37 about the valley of the dry bones made whole, and the joining of the two sticks into one nation.

Now with all this as a “backdrop,” let me suggest the great picture Yahweh has given us in the history and lifetimes of His “chosen” people… let me have you look at the first “covenant” narrative, as a show and tell example for His second “renewed” covenant people [us, those who have put on Christ], with our deliverance from the bondage of sin [i.e., like they were in Egypt], then taken under the tutelage of the SAME Torah words [Our Mt. Sinai], with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit... we who have the “laws” of Yahweh [Torah] put into our minds and written upon our hearts, are no less responsible to be thankfully, faithfully and righteously following Yeshua’s ways… I hope this makes sense to you. I think it is the way Yahweh has chosen to deal with us… Now, because Yahweh NEVER changes, going back to this:

“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;” deut 30:19 nkjv
