July 13, 2021 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control (patience). Against such there is no law. Gal 5:22-23 nkjv I think the important thing to notice in the scripture above is that “fruit” comes from seed, without seed there will be no fruit… mind you, there are many kinds of seed; and we are taught from the Bible that the law of the harvest declares that the seed contains life and the identity (characteristics, DNA of the fruit), to produce after its own kind. It is of course possible to tinker with the seed’s DNA and produce a hybrid… not the original, as does Satan make every effort to do to the “good seed, the Word of God;” everything from direct corruption to syncretism… have you ever seen the bumper-sticker “Coexist?” I think this is the general condition of the last days religious system… the Bible calls it, “Mystery Babylon, a harlot.” Rev chapter 17 The parable of the sower teaches us the “sower went out to sow,” [Mat Chapter 13] and that “the seed was the Word of God.” [Luke Chapter 8] In this case, God’s Word being Spirit, we are looking at spiritual fruit, as noted in Galatians 5, above. When one is “born again,” they have a heart suitable for the good seed of God’s Word to conceive and grow up to produce the “fruit of the Spirit.” Paul goes on to say, in Galatians, “And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” gal 5:24-25 nkjv [You will notice this is a personal choice.] It seems if we understand the power and truth of the above spiritual fruit… produced in us by the power of Christ in us [the hope of Glory], that there is nothing in this life that can overcome us. When the Word of God is manifested in us, we are being truly perfected by (and for) the purpose God intended from the beginning… on the other hand, it is the corruption and deceptions of the “weeds” [called tares in Matthew Chapter 13] that try to get into the seedbed of our hearts to complicate our walk as believers. Thankfully, God has given us the authority [choice] to purge them out as He expects us, to “tend and keep” the Garden of our hearts, His dwelling place.. as noted by Paul in gal 5:24-25… so, may that be our desire, to keep the weeds out of our heart. Shalom… John |
