“Pilate said to Him, “What is truth?” jn 18:38 nkjv |
June 9, 2026 So then, What do you think is truth? Have you ever wondered if the history you have been taught is factual… or did the victors who owned the guns, gold, and ink, record what their view of “facts” should be? This thought has troubled persons all throughout time. Pilate was a Roman politician, with immense power… his word could execute you or set you free. It was common for ancient empires to record their victories and omit their failures and defeats. To them, and to many today, truth is what you have the power to cause others to believe… for example, good lawyers can [and have] won judgments for a person for good or evil, perhaps wrongly… because the jury [or judge] considered their argument as right, even if not. Tragically, our judicial system can also be bought and twisted by powerful people… so, then where does truth exist, or where is it founded? Pilate’s question was in response to this statement Jesus made in answer to Pilate’s asking if He was a king? “Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” Jn 18:37 nkjv Pilate, I think, considered truth to be whatever he decided served him best… truth is a very powerful thing; in fact, I suggest it is the most powerful force in the universe. It causes men great fear… as it will expose them for whatever their offense is, which may bring great harm and loss to them. What does sin and truth have in common? I would suggest that neither can be escaped by craft. Both are a judgment issue that Yahweh has designed to cause men to face reality and know there are consequences for their handling of the situation they represent. Now consider Yeshua’s comment, “Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” Why is this so? I think it is because Yahweh’s Word has eternally established the absolutes of all physical laws and all spiritual laws. If one is careless with either, it will not turn out well. However, if one is born again, in Christ, they are a new creation… born of the blood and the Spirit… the blood of Jesus at Calvary washes away one’s sin, and the Word of Yahweh washes away the filth and corruption in one’s mind [heart], and the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth brings the divine conviction and revelation that refocuses the believer from an illusion of distortions into a new understanding of truth… thus, Yeshua’s words, “everyone who is of the truth hears My voice." What is His voice? Well, since He is the Word that became flesh, is not His voice His Word… I think so. Why has the evil cabal of all times tried to censor and distort the Torah, Yahweh’s forever settled Word… and likewise tried to mischaracterize the Biblical Yeshua [Jesus]? It is because both, if allowed to instruct your thinking and beliefs, will do much harm to the devil’s kingdom. John records Yeshua’s teaching of Him being the vine, and we believers are the branches. Paul tells us we “wild branches,” that believe in Christ, are “grafted on” to the vine… Yeshua tells us apart from Him [us branches] can do nothing… we loose our divine supply of life and truth. The enemy of our soul tirelessly pursues us and tries to confuse us and tempt us with temporal pleasures and worthless things… the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life. He wants to break us off from the vine, but unless we let go, Yeshua will hold us securely. Yeshua said only the branches that did not bear fruit would be broken off and cast into the fire… If we abide in Him, and allow Him to abide in us, fruit of His choosing will come from our lives as we draw our “truth sustenance” from Him. In our world, as we see multitudes falling into more confusion and destruction, we must pray for their eyes to be opened to the truth, the real truth, God’s divine Word, and that they will be delivered from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of God’s dear son, Yeshua… Yeshua said the truth would set you free; He said His Words are Spirit, they are life. If we walk in His truth, and make ourselves willingly available, I believe the opportunities will come where we can be useful harvesters of souls that will be counted as fruit on our branches. Amen. So then, how will you deal with this “truth,” God’s truth. I think that when you find it and abide in it, it will bring you peace and understanding about this thing called “life.” Will you be walking among the living, in divine truth, or haplessly wandering without purpose in the illusion that the one Yeshua called “the ruler of this world,” has lied to you about such that your truth is only relative to your interest and selfish fleshly will, while your life is fading away. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” prov 3:5-6 nkjv “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” prov 14:12 & prov 16:25 nkjv Shalom, John |
