June 1, 2021 What is in a name? Everything... “Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name; that at the name of Yeshua every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on eretz [earth], and those under the eretz [earth], and that every tongue should confess that Yeshua the Messiah is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." phil 2:9-11 hnv “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” phil 2:9-11 kjv The “name” Yeshua [Jesus] is the name above every name… think about that. When Yahweh named His only begotten Son, He established the gateway/door through which, “whosoever called upon that name SHALL BE SAVED.” In Acts 10:43 kjv, we read: “To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.” In the TaNaK/Tanakh (Old Testament, Torah, Prophets, and Writings), I am aware of at least 60 places where the “name” Yeshua (spelling may vary), is used [or revealed] and translated from the Hebrew #h3444, in the Strong’s Concordance, portraying Yahweh’s awesome purpose in “the name above every name,” that literally means “salvation” (by God). It includes, deliverance, healing, welfare, prosperity, victory, and salvation. In the New Testament, the Greek rendering of “saved” and “salvation” is typically expressed in the Greek, words [“sozo,” Strong’s g4982] and [“soteria,” Strong’s #g4991]. For all practical purposes, they convey the same benefit as the Hebrew #h3444. The original text and writings of the Torah, Prophets, and the Writings, were penned by Sages who were extremely cautious in their every single pen stroke… even “jots and tittles” [small marks] carried significance. The Orthodox Jews are so particular in their vocalization of Scripture that they rarely use the “name” YHWH [YHVH]… they use Hashem, Adonai, or G_d, when saying HIS Name… The Strong’s Hebrew #h3068, “Yehovah” is normally translated “LORD” in English bibles such as the KJV… and is translated as such some 6500+ times. What’s in HIS NAME to you… and me? In Isaiah 42:8 we read: “I am the Lord: that is my name:…” Or, I am Yahweh/YHWH: that is my name:… Yahweh conferred upon His only begotten Son, Yeshua, honor and glory and power… in all heaven and upon earth, and under the earth. He made HIM King, Lord, and Master of all. I am composing this devotional on Memorial Day 2021… A day when great respect, honor and thanks should be given in remembrance of the men and women who have courageously served our nation, with some making the ultimate sacrifice of their lives, that we may live in liberty and freedom. I add, let us not forget the respect, honor, and thanks that we should give to the great hero of our eternal liberty and salivation... Yeshua the Messiah, in and by Who’s Name we are saved… “Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: 13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. col 1:12-17 kjv Shalom… John |
