“For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” rom 4:3 nkjv |
April 28, 2026 Who was Abraham? Why is he called the “father” of our faith?” see Romans 4:11-12, where the Apostle tells the New Testament Roman believers about their heritage in the faith of Abraham, father of the circumcised and of the uncircumcised, saying this: “For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.” rom 4:13 nkjv We know that the Law [Torah] never changes, Pslams 119:89, and that Yahweh [Yeshua/Jesus] is the same yesterday, today, and forever… heb 13:8 nkjv The forever truth and its power are in the Word of Yahweh, the Torah [from the beginning] as He “codified” it to the Children of Israel at Mt. Sinai on their Exodus from Egypt. It is the same Word that became flesh [Yeshua/Jesus] that the Apostle wrote in John 1:1-14, and that will always be the “truth” that Yeshua prayed Yahweh would sanctify us with in John 17:17. Yet as the Apostle Paul teaches us, it is not the letter of the Law/Torah that saves [yet it is the righteous truth that will judge us], and it is only the faith we have in Christ that positions us in an acceptable place to have Abraham’s same place of acceptance… believe it! Live it! Trust God! The cosmic and ageless conflict for our humanity and our eternal souls is centered entirely in this dynamic of faith in Yahweh’s Word and the respect, honor, and belief [obedience as evidence of our faith] that we have towards it… starting in the garden where the serpent lied [challenged and twisted] this very truth when he deceived Eve to believe him instead of the forever established Word Yahweh had structured all human activity and existence around. Because of the weakness of the human capacity to simply say yes to Yahweh’s instructions, He sent Yeshua/Jesus [His very own incarnation in the flesh] to deliver us from these three weaknesses: “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. 1 jn 2:15-17 nkjv Can you think of anything that would represent these three conflicting issues in your lifestyle, or your pursuits, that hinders your understanding or willingness to allow faith in Yeshua’s sacrifice at Calvary to deliver you from the power of sin… and the Apostle John also told us what sin is: “Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.” 1 jn 3:4 nkjv The translated word that renders “lawlessness” in our NT text, means disobedience and disregard for The “Law” of God, Torah is the law of God. The serpent, in your garden of life, is always going to try to get you to go for the forbidden fruit… remember what the Scripture says, “the woman [Eve] saw the fruit and that it was good… gen 3:6 nkjv” Where was she looking, at the temptation or at the instructions of Yahweh? Where and how are the temptations of life, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, trying to get you to change your focus and faith from the eternal “Torah/instruction for life” to the tree of the serpent’s offerings? Do you think that Abraham’s decision to trust and believe Yahweh was not challenged by the serpent? I don’t think that could have not happened, the stakes were too high. Some things are not fully detailed in the Bible, but the principles and issues of [cause and effect] are always working. The issues of [cause and effect] are always working in our lives as well… what choices will you make? Let’s follow Joshua's example: “And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” jos 24:15 nkjv Remember, Yahweh provided for His Holy Spirit to indwell us… He is our always present, and always sufficient, underlying strength and hope that our faith will not fail… if we will make the right choice to be faithful to Yeshua… you think? The bottom line is this: Only Yeshua/Jesus, stands between us and the righteous judgment of the Law [Torah]…Will you [or do you] have faith in Him and His faithfulness to forgive your sins and preserve you unto salvation, which is His alone to provide, or are you distracted by the deceptions of the “the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life?” If you will read and consider the temptation of Christ [by the devil] when He first began His ministry, in Matthew 4:1-11, you will see the same pattern and crafty evil the serpent uses… Yeshua’s response to the devil’s temptation was, “it is written,” and He was referring to the Torah’s instruction… it is for us to follow His same example, I think.
