“For Your name’s sake, O Lord, Pardon my iniquity, for it is great.”  ps 25:11 nkjv   We have innumerable benefits that come to us “for His [God’s] name’s sake.” Yahweh says He did not often rescue the Children of Israel for their deserving it… nor for their good; but He did it because of His promises to the fathers [Abraham, Isaac, Jacob], and for His great name’s sake… be careful how you look at, and think and act toward “His name’s sake.”

“Nevertheless He saved them for His name’s sake, That He might make His mighty power known.” ps 106:8 nkjv

“Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “I do not do this for your sake, O house of Israel, but for My holy name’s sake, which you have profaned among the nations wherever you went.” ez 36:22 nkjv

“For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, 14 saying, “Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.” heb 6:13-14 nkjv

“But as God is faithful, our word to you was not Yes and No. 19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us—by me, Silvanus, and Timothy—was not Yes and No, but in Him was Yes. 20 For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. 21 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, 22 who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.” 2 cor 1:18-22 nkjv

Everything God does for us is for our good; He does all this in, by and through Yeshua [Jesus], who was the lamb of God slain before the foundation of the world… think about that. God saw [sees] the end from the beginning… and everything in between… that includes all things about us and everything concerning us. God’s promises to Abraham are backed by His “swearing upon and by” His Great name. To be validated as truth and fact, everything has to pass the test of “His great name’s sake,” and the promise He made to the fathers [Abraham, Issac, Jacob]. Yeshua came to establish the new covenant boundaries within the promises of God to Abraham, and all things related to His “name’s sake.”

All of the history of the Children of Israel and their ups and downs within their relationship to Yahweh and His Torah, as we see written and demonstrated in their lives during their covenant time with God, are said to be given to us as examples for our learning and understanding… The expectations of us, while being identical to theirs, is played out in a new covenant spiritual dynamic instead of a fleshly experience in an earthly temple and human priests. Now, Yeshua is our High Priest interceding in our behalf. Although the one pleasing Yahweh in their faith and obedience in a spiritual walk, must exhibit fruit of the spirit… a nature and lifestyle of Yeshua’s example, which is a spontaneous outgrowth of our love for God.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.” gal 5:22-23 nkjv

The indwelling Holy Spirit [the divine gardener of our hearts] helps us maintain our faithful duties if we are looking to please God. With circumcised hearts and love for the truth, and pursuits of holiness and justice, we can understand the title scripture,  “He [God] leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.  While it is for our benefit, it is for His great name’s sake first and foremost, just as it was for all the other interactions God had with “His People,” and we always need to remember, we were created for His Glory and to Worship Him… it is not about us, it is about Him, always. Now the evil demonic forces, under their dragon king, hates God and “His People.” More and more in these last days, their increasing assault on God’s kingdom will be to attempt to debase and destroy anything bringing praise, glory and worship to Yahweh [Yeshua]… Yeshua summed it up with this:

“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.” mat 24:9 nkjv  However here is the ending victory:

“And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” phil 2:8-11 nkjv

So what is in a name?   “So I will make My holy name known in the midst of My people Israel, and I will not let them profane My holy name anymore. Then the nations shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel.”   The day is coming when all nations will know and acknowledge the one and only “name” that matters.
