“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; ”  Deut 30:19(NKJV)

God’s boundaries around us keep us secure, both in the natural realm and in the spiritual realm.

God’s “guardrails” are set to defend us in the spiritual realm, because obedience to His Commandments and His expectations of us, are the substance of our well being in the natural realm. God’s Word (Torah) is a divine, supernatural, shield; when one loves to please God and walk, by faith, in His ways, those “guardrails” defend us. Biblical teachings, to me, suggests that when we do so… God alone is responsible for our well being. If we choose to exit those boundaries, we are on our own. Consider what Peter said:

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Pet 5:8

We live in dangerous and perilous times; sorta like a little lamb that is in the care of the shepherd in a wilderness pasture where hungry predators watch the heard for stragglers they can devour. Legend has it that if a particular lamb insists on wandering, the shepherd will break it’s leg, wrap it soundly, and carry it around until it mostly heals… an interesting preventive measure. Maybe some of us have had a similar “experience” with our repetitive ventures outside God’s preferred boundaries… just saying.

The Psalms of David reflect his experience with fellowship with Yahweh God… consider David’s proclamations in Psalms 91.

"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” Ps 91:1-2

If you read the rest of Psalms 91, you will see the profound place of refuge, David describes, that God has provide for His people. To me, if you look carefully, you can “update” the weapons and conditions that are now represented in our times. If we ever needed divine protection, it is now.

"If the foundations are destroyed, What can the righteous do?’ Ps 11:3

"The wicked prowl on every side, When vileness is exalted among the sons of men.” Ps 12:8

Considering the “perilous” times we now live in… Where is your (my) faith? Is it with men; or maybe our own strength? Who do you trust… to keep you safe; the Good Shepherd Yeshua (Jesus), or your own wanderings? I think the answers depend upon our faith in God and our willingness to obey and follow the ways of the Master…

Shalom… John
