| "Those who trust in the Lord Are like Mount Zion, Which cannot be moved, but abides forever.” ps 125:1 nkjv

November 9, 2021 There seems to be a special connection between “Mt Zion,” [Jerusalem] and those who trust in Yahweh [The LORD]. Zion can refer to more than a city [Jerusalem], it can refer to the Son’s of Zion, Daughters of Zion, the House of the LORD, the City of David (outside the formal boundary of Jerusalem’s walls). Lets look a an example from the Psalms: “I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the Lord.” 2 Our feet have been standing Within your gates, O Jerusalem! 3 Jerusalem is built As a city that is compact together, 4 Where the tribes go up, The tribes of the Lord, To the Testimony of Israel, To give thanks to the name of the Lord. 5 For thrones are set there for judgment, The thrones of the house of David. 6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you. 7 Peace be within your walls, Prosperity within your palaces.” 8 For the sake of my brethren and companions, I will now say, “Peace be within you.” 9 Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek your good.” ps 122:1-9 nkjv When “born again,” we are said to be grafted on to the “Olive tree,” Israel of Yahweh [or commonwealth of Israel]. As Paul elaborates on in Romans 9,10, and 11. This formalizes our connection to all the referential meanings of Zion… it is particularly important for us to really make this connection in a personal sense… as Yahweh only has one people [Israel], that is, as He defines them. Especially notice the caption scripture that says: “Those who trust in the Lord Are like Mount Zion, Which cannot be moved, but abides forever.” ps 125:1 nkjv It especially blesses me that we are given stability and an unmovable position that Yahweh foreordained and predestined for our eternal being. In this life, being yet in earth suits, so to speak, we can by faith in Yahweh’s faithful promises, work towards the goal of our heavenly abode… as the writer of Hebrews defines so well as: 22 “But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, 23 to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.” heb 12:22-24 nkjv For us, the mundane and temporal frustrations, aggravation, persecutions, and evil devices of men (especially in our upside down world) will eventually be done away with by our soon coming Redeemer and glorious Savior… who never takes His eye off of Zion. Shalom... John For a good read… Why is Zion so Important? For an inspirational musical reference to Zion… Shalom Jerusalem. |
