“The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But he who heeds counsel is wise.”prov 12:15 nkjv

November 16, 2021

Prayer and Praise for Deliverance from Enemies… If we carefully discern the conflicting circumstances challenging us, most likely (most of the time), Yahweh can defend us better than we can defend ourselves… provided we are making an honest effort to be righteous and faithful to Yahweh’s expectations of us. Although the turbulent and threatening sounds of the adversary will try to distract our thinking, Yahweh can manage our issues better than we can… at least is seem that way in my challenges.

Many of the experiences of King David, expressed in the lyrics of the Psalms, are not always easy to discern; for example, in Psalms 7, the caption [chapter title] in my NKJV Bible reads: “A meditation of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning the words of Cush, a Benjamite.”

The utterances and cries of David in Psalm 7, spring from an underlying time of anguish and sorrow that David was going through on his escape from Jerusalem… He was fleeing from his rebellious son Absalom, who had gathered a treasonous cabal of seditious misfits that fully intended to take the King’s Throne away from him, which probably would also end in his death… and that of the Kings family. You can read the narrative in 2 Samuel 16.

While fleeing Absalom, along the way a certain dissident subject, named Shimei, reviled the King and cursed at him, throwing rocks and mocking him… one of his guards suggested he go and remove the mad man’s head… David restrained the guard and said he would let the LORD handle it.

The Psalm begins with: “O Lord my God, in You I put my trust; Save me from all those who persecute me; And deliver me, 2 Lest they tear me like a lion, Rending me in pieces, while there is none to deliver.” ps 7:1-2 nkjv.

David appealed to the LORD in the truth of his integrity and deeds, he humbled himself and did not take things into his own hands… which seems interesting with him being such a powerful King. He goes on in proclaiming Yahweh’s righteous judgments and recites what he believes to be Yahweh’s opinion of the wicked… and how their end will come… and then he ends the Psalm with: “I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness, And will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.” ps 7:17 nkjv

King David’s arrangement of Psalm 7 is a masterpiece of perspective that Yahweh intends for the born-again believer, with a spiritually renewed mind, to possess. Perhaps one of the key issues is that Yahweh has it in mind that we should focus on our relationship with him instead of being provoked into hostile action by wicked and unruly people. As David had a passage around the mad man, he took it. How often do we think to look for ways around satanic provocations of his wicked minions instead of being drawn into confrontation with them… probably not to end well. As these uncertain times keep dealing up problems, most will involve people, I think we must trust Yahweh to deliver us from the persecutions ahead, as much as is possible.

Shalom... John
