“A man who is in honor, yet does not understand, Is like the beasts that perish.”  ps 49:20 nkjv

January 20, 2026

”Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, But he who hates correction is stupid.”prov 12:1 nkjv   You gotta love how Yahweh debunks politically incorrect thinking… Godly knowledge comes from Yahweh's truth and study of applications concerning its wise use. Refusal of truth and/or using it wisely [in a righteous and just way for benefit of all] would qualify for “stupid.” Ignorance, of course, is correctable. Problem is, stupid is both contagious and destructive. A perishing beast and a stupid person [even from a station of honor] either lacks understanding and/or willingness to learn and correct their errors. Much of the makeup of humanity is steeped in wickedness and selfish indulgence. It has been that way from the garden of Eden… with same evil sprit influence affecting all “useful idiots” [what Vladimir Lenin called those deceived by communist tactics, resulting in them being used for his evil plans, and when done, discarded as if they were trash.]

As many of you know, I like the lifestyle teaching given us in the Psalms. Today is January 19, and as my typical read for Psalms goes, I read ps 19, ps 49, ps 79, ps 109, and ps 139… with the value of “30” between each… It is amazing how the similarities in the context and contrast between good and bad [evil and righteous] is progressed along in the subsequent chapters in each set. I will attempt to explain what I see in today’s example…

Psalms 19, to me, is one of the most beautiful Psalms written; it is attributed to David being its author. He expresses his thinking and understanding of the way Yahweh's creation exhibits and magnifies [by cosmos display] His work… He then says the following:

“The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;
8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;
9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover by them Your servant is warned, And in keeping them there is great reward.” ps 19:7-11 nkjv

Next, ps 49 switches the focus from the greatness of Yahweh's creation and wonderful instruction He’s provided for our well being [and I might add to keep us from being stupid]; and reveals the thinking and mindset of the foolish and their confidence in their own ability and self willed ways to sustain them and, basically, they are their own “god.” Their end is as the beast that perishes…

Next, ps 79 speaks of the destructive tragedy of Israel by their enemies, the temple being laid waste and seemingly successful triumph of the wicked over the “people of God.” The Psalmist reminds Yahweh of His “Kingship” over them and for Him not to remember their iniquities and ask Him to bring back His tender mercies… and punish their tormentors for the awful evils put upon them… for which, they [the sheep of His pasture] will thank Him forever, etc… basically, the triumph of mercy over judgment.

Next, ps 109 is where David calls upon Yahweh to see his persecuted and accused condition that evil and wicked people have afflicted him with… and David explicitly describes the punishment he wants Yahweh to pour out on his accusers and that without mercy… imprecatory prayer as such. [we don’t hear much about that kind of praying nowadays… maybe it would be good to start following David’s example].

David closes ps 109 with these words…

“Help me, O Lord my God! Oh, save me according to Your mercy,
27 That they may know that this is Your hand— That You, Lord, have done it!
28 Let them curse, but You bless; When they arise, let them be ashamed, But let Your servant rejoice.
29 Let my accusers be clothed with shame, And let them cover themselves with their own disgrace as with a mantle.
30 I will greatly praise the Lord with my mouth; Yes, I will praise Him among the multitude.
31 For He shall stand at the right hand of the poor, To save him from those who condemn him.” ps 109:26-31 nkjv

Then comes ps 139… The “crescendo” of David’s proclamation of Yahweh's perfect knowledge of man… and how his life is “hemmed in,” so to speak; how all that concerns him is taken care of with Yahweh’s great understanding and knowledge of everything he could want or need. What David says is almost too magnificent to believe to be… yet it is for every person who makes Yeshua their king and master, because that is what Yeshua came into this world to do… David closes his remarks with these words…

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; 24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.” ps 139:23-24 nkjv

We all are born with “free will.” Which would you rather be, a stupid person on auto-pilot plunging into the dust of the earth with the beasts that perish… or one who chooses the wisdom and knowledge of Yahweh’s Word, thereby to get to know the person of Yeshua and be “hemmed in” within His love and preordained plan and purpose for you that Yahweh saw and desired from before your were born…

As my understanding of “predestined” being that everything is set in absolute “forever settled Word,” ps 119:89…  all things “upheld by the Word of His Power,” yet the predestined plan for you can be altered by free will choices… like the first choice Adam/Eve made to depart from their predestined preferred plan that Yahweh made clear to them… Just saying. For you see, disobedience was not predestined, it is free will stupidity, as the age-old choice of “useful idiots,” under the sway of the wicked one. 1 jn 5:19 nkjv  Remember, life is a test; it could not be a test unless there was a right answer and a wrong answer. The choice is “stupid” or “obedient.” The Word is eternal, it always yields the predetermined definition on the “answer sheet.”

My reading of this set of Psalms, to me, gives a clear picture of human nature in operation… David and the other writers help us see the wicked and the righteous perspective and the cause and effect of each. Old teachings, yet eternal lessons to always keep us steadfast in our faith.

Shalom, John
