The Examination of Truth; a Biblical Perspective

(by: John Johnson 11-8-2019)

37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

38 Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all. (Jhn 18:37-38 KJV)

Pilate, like most Roman’s in high authority; being a Roman prefect (governor) of Judaea (26–36 ce) under the emperor Tiberius, presided at the trial of Jesus and gave the order for his crucifixion... and Pilate most likely viewed himself as a “god figure.” As did the Pharaohs of Egypt and the Roman Caesars...

Who was Pilate?

“One of the earliest—and most scathing—accounts of Pilate comes from the Jewish philosopher Philo of Alexandria. Writing around 50 A.D., he castigated the prefect for his “bribery, insults, robberies, outrages and wanton injuries, executions without trial, constantly repeated, ceaseless and supremely grievous cruelty.” (Ref:

A good question would be, what would someone like Pilate really think about “truth?” My guess is that they made up truth to suit themselves because they were void of divine intellect and their hardened hearts were full of spiritual darkness. Just from Philo’s observations, we could easily fit many modern political figures into the description of Pilate…

How, may I ask, would someone lacking an inner conscience of moral and just character, even know how to understand “truth.” From my point of view, to understand “truth,” one would need to possess a Biblical consciousnesses with firm convictions that God’s point of view is the only point of view that is capable of defining truth and any other absolute. Now as a side note, as a source for the study of truth, I do not include the religious opinions of men and church institutional doctrines that conflict with what the Bible clearly says… Only solid and clear Biblical facts are being considered to define “truth.”

Here is a “Holman Concise Bible Dictionary” definition of Truth:

"That which is reliable and can be trusted; actual fact over against appearance, pretense, or assertion (Zech. 8:16; Mark 5:32-33); correct knowledge or doctrine (1 Tim. 4:3; 2 Tim. 2:18). The essential idea of truth in the Bible is faithfulness or reliability. God is the standard. God’s truth (faithfulness or reliability) is basic for all other truth (Deut. 7:9-10). He maintains covenant and steadfast love. He is reliable (Deut. 32:4; 2 Chron. 15:3; Isa. 65:16; Jer. 10:10). God “keepth truth for ever” (Ps. 146:6). The Word of God and His law are true because of God’s nature as truth (faithfulness) in what He did in creation, election, redemption, and the giving of the law (Neh. 9:13-14; compare 1 Sam. 12:24; Rom. 3:1-7).

Truth and sincerity are opposed to malice and evil (1 Cor. 5:8). Truth is to be obeyed (Rom. 2:8; Gal. 5:7). The truth of God is revealed not so much in the law as in Christ (Rom. 15:8-9; compare Rom. 1:1-6; 16:25-26; 2 Cor. 4:6; Gal. 2:5,14). One hears and believes the truth and is in Christ (Eph. 1:13).

Christ is the truth (John 1:17-18; 18:37). Since Christ shares in the truth of God, He is full of grace and truth. He is “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). The activity of the Holy Spirit is associated with the activity of Jesus in so far as truth is concerned (John 15:26-27).

Disciples must appropriate the truth (John 17:17-19). Followers of Christ are of “the truth” (John 18:37). This knowledge of truth is not simply “head knowledge.” It is a matter of receiving Christ (John 1:11-13). This acceptance of Jesus and receiving of the truth is accompanied by “walking in the truth” or in the light (2 John 4; 3 John 3-4; 1 John 1:7), doing the truth (John 3:21; 1 John 1:6).”

I think truth is the most powerful force in the universe, and that God established it as unmovable and relentlessly steadfast… like His love for us, and His everlasting kindness and mercy toward us. It is truth that will cleanse the earth when Yeshua returns… the sword of his mouth (Rev 19:15,21), will destroy the enemies of Yeshua (truth), I think the sword is the Word of Truth that will devour evil, which foundation is in the lies of the serpent, who’s head Yeshua would crush (Gen 3:15). Everything is about “words,” Yahweh’s Word/Truth, or the devil serpent’s words/lies. We are taught in the parable of the sower that the “seed” is the Word/Truth of Yahweh (Mat 13; Mrk 4). The serpent’s seed/words, are in contrast, lies, half-truths and deceptions of wickedness. Truth’s power will prevail.

Spiritual Warfare, in its most explicit form, is an “information war,” it is a conflict between real truth and distorted values for truth… this conflict is raging all around us with every move we make. Our most important effort in life is to learn the truth and guard and keep its values in our thinking and doing.

Sometimes we miss the point of Biblical meaning because the words translated in our Bibles (from the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek) are not fully appreciated in our English usage… for example, take the word “law” in the broadest sense… to modern thinking, as typical 21st Century American word usage is concerned, could be a speed limit, tax code, legal designation, group of statutes in our constitution, policeman and so forth. The truth is, Biblical Old Testament “law” is better understood as “instructions for living.” The Torah, often called the Law of Moses-first five books of the Bible, where the law (Torah) is clearly defined, is the foundation of all remaining Bible discussion.

For example: When the Bible uses the term “iniquity or lawlessness” (such as in the Greek text from which the New Testament is derived)… in 2 Thessalonians 2:7 the original text is “anomia” as defined here:

g0458. ἀνομία anomia; from 459; illegality, i.e. violation of law or (genitive case) wickedness: — iniquity, x transgress(-ion of) the law, unrighteousness.

AV (15) - iniquity 12, unrighteousness 1, transgress the law + g4160 1, transgression of the law 1; the condition of without law because ignorant of it, because of violating it, contempt and violation of law, iniquity, wickedness

We will come back to this later.

Let’s examine more of what truth is, so we can better understand its power and authority… and its meaning in our lives. Here we consult the Bible for truth in context.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (Jhn 1:1 KJV)

We know, of course, that this is speaking of Yeshua (Jesus)… Yahweh (God), manifested unto us “in the flesh,” according to John 1:14.

Yeshua said, praying to the Father, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” (Jhn 17:17 KJV)

Yeshua, the living Word, also said to his disciple Thomas, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

In other words, no man comes unto the Father except by the truth; Yeshua then, is both the Word in the flesh, and the truth… He then is the only one “who can sanctify us.” Sanctify means to set apart, or cleanse for holiness, or preserve for purity. Truth and the Word (one and the same) is the Sanctifying power that comes from YHWH God alone. Yeshua’s vicarious death/crucifixion on the cross, for mankind, provides “sanctification of the repent sinner, by the only means possible,” the shedding of His Holy and Purely Righteous Blood which atones for our sins and transgressions against a Holy, and Just, and Righteous God (YHWH). “Truth” presents us acceptable to YHWH. IF we refuse or rebuke the one and only pathway to YHWH, we deny the truth and cannot be redeemed into the eternal Kingdom of God… as defined by Biblical Truth.

Some very important facts are beginning to emerge as we read what these scriptures are really saying. Truth is Yahweh God (YHWH); Yeshua, the living Word is both YHWH and truth. The above scripture certifies this as absolute.

At this point I want to point out something important; Yahweh (God) alone makes the rules, by His forever settled Word [Psalms 119:89], (THE Torah Word spoken at the mountain, given to Moses, written in stone… is the Divine DNA of Yeshua). The Torah of Moses IS the Word that became flesh… let that sink in, because if you choose to resist this most important Biblical fact, you will not be able to receive the Sanctification by the “truth” and your theology will impede your way to eternal life as YHWH God established from the beginning. Consider this confirmation of this “truth.”

Yeshua, during a “fact establishing discussion” with the theologians of His day (whom He said had used their traditions [their man made rules of religion] to make void the Word of YHWH God); [Mat 15:6, Mrk 7:13]… it is these same Jews who hated him that he warned with these words in John 5 KJV:

37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

38 And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.

39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. [my note: there was no New Testament “scriptures” to search, only the Old Testament existed]

40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

41 I receive not honour from men.

42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.

43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?

45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.

46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me.

47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

This is a defining moment in a believer’s study and understanding of WHO Yeshua is, and WHAT it is that He is saying… let me paraphrase it: Referring to Moses writings, Yeshua is saying, “The Torah Word of God (me in the flesh), sent to you by the Father, is the one that will accuse and judge you… and you claim you trust in the Torah, and you don’t believe me to be him whom the Father has sent? If you really believed the Torah, you would know who I am, because the Torah is about me.”

As a matter of fact, the Rabbinical teachings yet today include proclamations that their duty is to “place a fence of protection,” around the Torah… They continue to make their teachings-traditions obstructive to Yeshua’s reality… just as they did in His days on earth. The Torah forbids adding to and/or taking away the Torah’s content… see Deut 4:2, 12:32.

Today, in modern times, the typical “Christian Church” doctrines and teachings (traditions of men), still yet today try to separate the Written Word (Torah) from the living Torah (Word in the flesh, Yeshua)… claiming mostly that the Old Testament was for the Jews, and the real New Testament church began in Acts Chapter 2… Christianity has separated itself from the Torah and Judaism has tried to separate itself from the living Torah, by discrediting Yeshua as their Messiah. For now, we will say, when Yeshua returns, He will heal both groups and combine them into the “one new man” that Paul teaches us about in Eph 2:15. (KJV)

Truth confronts us with uncomfortable challenges. Mostly because we have been molded into harden clay vessels and our psychic momentum is to stay in our comfort zones and ignore or resist the truth when it presses our flesh. It raises questions we don’t want to have to answer.

If you will recall, it was the truth that the serpent (devil) in the garden of Eden was refuting… twisting its values (absolutes) in order to coerce the minds of Adam & Eve… causing them to believe the lie that they would not die if they did not love the truth enough to obey Yahweh God… how did that work out? Well, there is a modern time “truth test” equivalent for us to really understand in these last days… and fear.

Paul explains this in 2 Thessalonians 2:7-12 (KJV):

7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

I could write pages upon pages on the verses above… they are so full of connections to the “truth;” but namely, I will say, do you see what is going on here? This is a test between truth and lies. Yahweh God is teaching us that if we do not LOVE the TRUTH… HIS WORD [Torah, and Messiah in the Flesh, AS ONE], we will be given a “Divine Rejection,” consisting of a strong delusion sent from Yahweh God Himself!

At this point, I hope you will take pause and ask yourself if you really want to know the truth… can you [or I] handle the truth? Lets look at those translated words again.

In the Greek rendering of the text, verse 7; the words “mystery of iniquity,” is better understood (making a VERY important point here) as “mystery of lawlessness,” and is translated as such in some Bible versions. The Greek word for iniquity, as noted above, is “anomia” [g0458, Strongs]; it literally means without law (more specifically, without Torah, God’s law).

Paul is saying that there is a “mystery” connected to being without the truth… truth being the Torah Word… life likeness of Yeshua. Our world is slipping deeper and deeper into darkness, Torahlessness.

This darkness is an illusion, a mysterious seduction (as typified by the serpent deceiving Adam and Eve). Nothing is new; human flesh and carnal senses have not evolved since Adam… Only the truth of Yahweh’s forever settled Word can deliver our corrupted thinking from this cosmic illusion that is enveloping us more each day. Yeshua said,

4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. (Jhn 9:4-5 KJV)

Yeshua is the “light” of the world… He said , My words, are spirit, they are life.” (Jhn 6:63 KJV) Yeshua’s words are truth; His word(s) are the light that destroys darkness (lies and illusions in opposition to the Torah that Yahweh God spoke from the mountain.) Remember, when Israel was in their Exodus journey, Yeshua was the “pillar of light” that sat over them and led them through the darkness of the wilderness. Remember, Yeshua DID NOT change the Father’s Truth (Word),

49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. (Jhn 12:49 KJV)

6 For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. (Mal 3:6)

8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. (Heb 13:8 KJV)

And, what about this profound statement by Yeshua:

17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. (Mat 5:17-19 KJV)

Yeshua says often, that He and the Father are one, If you have seen Him, you have seen the Father. The truth of the Word in the Torah and the truth of the Words spoken by the living Torah (Yeshua) are one and the same always.

If truth is truth, then it cannot be revised/changed, and still be truth. Yeshua is living truth; the written Word is the testimony of the ages. The bible tells us that the testimony of Yeshua is the Spirit of Prophecy. Paul says, “Christ in us, the hope of glory.” When the Word of YHWH is “in us” we are full of truth, we have the Spirit of Yeshua “in us,” by the presence of the Holy Spirit. As we feed on the bread of life (Word) we are sustained by spiritual power. The truth in us is promised to “manifest” that for which it was sent to do… lead us into acceptable fellowship with our Heavenly Father… empower us to overcome evil, walk in the truth and not be deceived by the wicked one.

When Yeshua said, “if you love me, keep my commandments.” That was BEFORE the New Testament was written… The commandments of Yeshua (He said, my commandments) are the same commandments of the Father. The commandments are truth, that if you know it, will set you free… free from what? Free from the cosmic illusion that tries to separate us from the fellowship of YHWH… that is what the serpent did when the First Adam compromised himself and believed the lie of the devil.

With the Word/Truth in us, and if we willfully desire to trust and obey YHWH, by faith, we will have “spirit eyes” and “spirit ears.” Because the Holy Spirit is forever faithful. Thereby, we will see the world around us in a different perspective. The distractions that continually attack our senses and try to draw us into their “mysterious dens of iniquity” to devour us, will not be able to deceive us. The 23 Psalm is a perfect descriptive narrative of the truth protecting the one who knows that the “LORD Yeshua” is their Shepherd.

So then, what will we do with this understanding of “truth?” It has always been the same for each person who has ever lived… and will be the same until Messiah Yeshua returns. The day in which we live is full of half-truths, misinformation, outright lies, fake news, sensuous temptations, false religion and all kinds of cults and pagan attractions. Everything the natural man’s appetites crave. This onslaught is coming at us from every direction and in unlimited kinds and types to the extent that we can hardly turn in any direction to avoid it. For me, it is the daily fellowship of the Word (my Bible study) and my prayer time, and meditation on the scripture that sustains my sanity. The Bible says that Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Truth). Truth is a foundation block in your stability… mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Likewise, Faith diminishes by NOT hearing the Truth… and darkness comes.

It is important to understand that the Hebrew Bible teaches, and an Eastern mindset understands, the word “hear” to mean “hear and obey.” Not just hear “to know,” as the Greek-Roman mindset works. The word “hear” in the Hebrew is “shama” and is Strongs #h8085. It literally means to hear intelligently and to obey. In other words, as Yeshua’s brother James says; “faith without works is dead.” (James 2:20,26 KJV)

So then, to hear the truth and not embrace it as a lifestyle… is to disobey. This practice, if not reversed, will lead to the tragic demise of the individual as noted above in Paul’s warning to the Thessalonians… failing to have a love for the truth, and will end with YHWH sending a delusion to send that one to destruction… Do you understand that this is what the Bible says? Does this not frighten you, it should. All of this is about choices. Do we LOVE the Truth? Let us go way back to the Exodus of Israel from Egypt… Moses admonishing the people:

19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

20 That thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them. (Deut 30:19-20 KJV)

In the New Testament, Yeshua says, “if you LOVE me, keep my commandments.” (in the Greek, the word “keep” is analogous to the Hebrew word, “hear.” Faith in action doing “truth” is Loving God.

Truth working in us, is to know right and do it. Otherwise it is sin (no half way): 4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. (1 Jhn 3:4 KJV) Remember, Truth is the Torah Word… (Torah is translated “law”); ignoring truth is sin.

2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. (1 Jhn 5:2-3 KJV)

The scripture says:

"God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;" (Heb 1:1-3 KJV)

This Scripture makes clear that Yeshua is integral with the Godhead, that YHWH'S "Word" (which is truth) upholds "ALL THINGS" and His Word is Power. In the Greek it means:

g1411. δύναμις dynamis; from 1410; force (literally or figuratively); specially, miraculous power (usually by implication, a miracle itself): — ability, abundance, meaning, might(-ily, -y, -y deed), (worker of) miracle(-s), power, strength, violence, mighty (wonderful) work.

At this point you may be thinking... wow, he is beating that "truth" thing to death. Tragically, most people think they know the truth and in reality they are deceived. Either they insulate themselves from the truth, because they don't want to deal with it; or they have never considered that they do not know the truth and if they are confronted with it in a situation where they have to reconcile with it, they are dumbfounded. This is exactly where the devil wants to keep us... indifferent and calloused to the truth or simply ignorant of it. REMEMBER... the devil's main purpose is to separate man from God. The world we live in today is on full scale assault against anything Biblical, or true, concerning moral laws and virtuous thinking. Truth is under the most aggressive attack that I have ever experienced in my 76 years of life.

What about "faith?" Here is what the Scripture says about faith (pistis in the Greek):

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Heb 11:1 KJV)

g4102. πίστις pistis; from 3982; persuasion, i.e. credence; moral conviction (of religious truth, or the truthfulness of God or a religious teacher), especially reliance upon Christ for salvation; abstractly, constancy in such profession; by extension, the system of religious (Gospel) truth itself: — assurance, belief, believe, faith, fidelity.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Heb 11:6 KJV)

According to this, and since Romans 10:17 says, "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God," then if a person has not the truth... they by default, CAN NOT have true faith... Truth is vital to everything in our life. What if you could not believe the accuracy of the compounds in your medication, or that the traffic lights were not properly synchronized... that the bridge you are driving over was not designed by the laws of physics. How about if your spouse was not honest with you... kinda how YHWH must view us when we flip off His Torah. The Proverb says:

He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law (Torah), even his prayer shall be abomination. (Prov 28:9 KJV)… a profound verse; worth cautious study.

Because the word “hearing” in the Hebrew, as used here, means to “do” or “obey,” not just know about it. In other words, if you want to walk in truth, pleasing to YHWH, you best “do” His Word, not just hear it to “know” what it means only… which equals “disobedience.”

How serious do you think this information is? Does it matter to you?

Truth must not be ignored. It allows for no compromise. It is final. It will judge every human who ever lived on the day all men stand before the Righteous judge of all the earth. Part truth is 100 percent false (as far as the results are concerned). Innocent or misunderstood issues are, I think, the only possible exceptions to these issues… YHWH will be the judge of that.

The Bible says to seek YHWH with all our hearts... would we rather indulge in worldly entertainment or fantasy religious practices? What will it take to get our attention. Israel of old, always failed these test... I am convinced our lives are a test... we are being weighed and tested to see whether we will follow YHWH or the lies of the serpent. YHWH said he would even test us by using false prophets to see if we would follow them. (Deut 13:3)

Now I know what some of you are thinking. You are silently asking if I am proposing that we do those Old Testament things… like keeping the Sabbath (you know, the Seventh day). Like, you know, the written in stone Fourth Commandment… that the Roman Church changed to Sunday, first day of the week. Well do you keep the Commandment not to murder; how about don’t commit adultery? For these two, Yeshua said if you hate (kill another in your thoughts-heart) you were a murderer… that if you lust after a woman that is the same as physical adultery… Does Yeshua know what He is talking about? Do you care what He said… you do not have a smorgasbord Bible… you can’t simply tear out the pages that you don’t like. The Torah is a safety barrier between us and the devil’s doings. If YHWH had wanted Adam to partake of the forbidden tree He would have told him; however, he protected Adam by his Word, and Adam did not believe the truth. We are no different, if we play with fire, we will get burned.

Obedience is a divine sanctuary. It is an impregnable fortress. It is walled around about by Truth. Truth is full of light and darkness can not overcome it.

The world hates the truth:

"If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me [Yeshua] before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me. If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. He that hateth me hateth my Father also. If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father" (Jhn 15:18-24 KJV)

Yeshua’s words are very clear; the truth is not welcome in the world. As a believer we must recognize that the battle royal is about the Torah and the Messiah. The Torah, the written record of YHWH’S Word spoken at Mt Sinai, personified by His only begotten Son, was YHWH’S plan from the beginning. Yeshua, the Lamb slain from before the foundation of the world… was to be the clarification of the way the Torah was to be followed and lived. Yeshua’s appearance upon planet earth, was his “revealing” not his origination. He is the great I AM. He confounded the liars and deceivers and they simply wanted him dead… that did not work out so well for them either, as you can’t kill the truth. Truth is the most powerful force in the universe. Truth is soon to return to set the record straight.

Yeshua taught the principles of the heart of YHWH (the Torah truth) when speaking to the people during a teaching known as the “sermon on the mount.” (Mat 5,6,&7)… it concluded like this:

"Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes."

His conclusion is quite clear… "if your house is not built on doing what I say, not just hearing it… it will not stand…" game over. The people, who were under the burdensome load of the religious leaders, who took advantage of them, quickly recognized that Yeshua had authority… Truth has a way of standing upon its own merits.

Back to Pilate’s question, “what is truth?” Dare I say it, if you have read this far and don’t know what truth is, you may need to go back and read this again, and look up the supporting Bible Verses.

Truth is eternal, it is the Word of YHWH (God)… the “spoken” Word described in Genesis created all things. Yeshua was that Word.

Truth is a pathway to life, as life should be.

Truth is faithfulness… in BOTH directions; God to man, and man to God. Faith cannot exist without faithfulness. If you are not faithful to what you claim to believe in, you are a liar. God cannot lie.

The Torah was given as a schoolmaster of truth.

Truth establishes our identity.

Truth is the mirror that reveals our real image... of who we really are; we will look like our Master (Yeshua or the Evil One).

Yeshua is the end of the “law” (for righteousness), not the end of the Torah… otherwise it would be the end of truth. Yeshua said the Torah would last as long as heaven and earth lasts. (Mat 5:18)

Paul admonishing Timothy says:

Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. (2 Tim 2:19 KJV)

You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free… always has, always will.

It is time for some closing thoughts. To be clear, this discussion on truth is going to encourage some and agitate others. For example, if one is an agnostic, atheist, or a deliberate hater of YHWH God, this article will most likely be of little interest, or perhaps irritate to some degree because absolute truth offends. If one is an adherent to pagan religion, such as Islam, Buddhism, Wicca or other cults, living in the illusion of demonic spiritual confusion, then this article will most likely irritate the evil spirits of darkness that influence these because the light of the Torah has stirred them up. There is one other group that this article will likely agitate as well… those confused within the many “UN-christian,” “Christian fellowships,” who have made up their own version of God and a “Jesus” who has no criticism of “sin,” as the Bible clearly defines it, and promote unlimited grace and willful violation of the Torah, without consequences… they will not like this message either.

The miraculous message of the Gospel of Yeshua and His “bloody” Calvary sacrifice, that destroys sin and its foundations, is fully intended to give hope and deliverance to all the “whosoever will” persons who embrace the truth and walk in its liberty. It will surely bless those who accept their responsibility to turn from their worldly indulgences and sinful practices, and repent and call upon the name of Yahweh, so they shall be saved. The believing body of Yeshua, who love the truth and its value will hopefully better understand what it is that truth does for them.

It is therefore vital that people know what sin is and what it does to separate them from a Holy God. We herein, proved the Biblical meaning and consequences of sin.

What is "Sin" according to the Bible?

According to the New Testament Book of 1John 3:4;

"Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law." KJV

Now this direct statement is saying (two times) that to break, transgress, oppose, disregard, work against, commit action or violation of any kind against the "law" (Torah, law of Moses... first five books of the Hebrew Bible) is sin. Sin has one and only one end result; and that is separation from God (YHWH)... and without one's change of their ways by repenting and asking forgiveness and having Yeshua's (Jesus') blood cleanse their sin, sin will end in that one being cast into "the lake of fire," in the final judgment (Rev 20:15 and 21:8).

The ONLY remedy (correction or cure) for sin is confession of your sin, asking forgiveness, with true and genuine repentance and turning away from (forever forsaking) the sin at issue, asking Yeshua to become "master" of your life, and taking up one's place as an "obedient" child of YHWH. Thankfully, 1John 1:9 assures the repentant sinner:

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." KJV

Now what are some of the "sins" identified in the Bible?

First, any rebellion or disobedience to the "Written Word of God (YHWH)" is sin... therefore, one must study the Bible (from the beginning) to know what is and what is not sin... there is no excuse for a person, claiming to be a part of the Biblical Israel of YHWH/God, NOT to know what sin is, as Paul says in Romans 1:18-20. Paul continues in Romans 1:21-32 to explain the sin problem.

Breaking of the Ten Commandments and their expanded meaning (principals of living) is also sin.

Here are some of the "itemized sins" of the Bible:

Professing themselves to be wise (smarter than the Word of God/Torah), looking to corruptible things (mankind, birds, four-footed beast, creeping things, etc. as "worshiped" things, in place of a holy incorruptible GOD/YHWH);

Lust in their own hearts, dishonoring their own bodies between themselves (changing YHWH'S truth into a lie, worshiping and serving the creature more than the Creator/YHWH), which has manifesting results in secular humanism... and "green earth" (mother earth) worship (this is not the same as good stewardship of our planet, for which God clearly expects us to respect and keep as best we know how).

For these things, YHWH "gave them up" to vile affections (perverted sexual practices, i.e., homosexuality, bestiality, and all "unnatural" forms of human relationships, resulting in perversion).

Because they did not like to retain YHWH/GOD in their "knowledge," YHWH gave them up to a "reprobate mind," to do those things not convenient (fitting). Such as, being filled with all unrighteousness (opposite to Torah definition of holy and righteous), fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity (bad character- mischievousness), whisperers, backbiters, haters of YHWH/GOD, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable (unmovable, unappeasable, unrelenting, adamant), unmerciful.

What does Paul the Apostle tell the Ephesians 5:3-5, about those who will NOT enter the Kingdom of Christ and of God?

3 "But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; 4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. 5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God."KJV

What does Paul warn the Galatians about sin in Gal 5:19-21?

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. KJV

Now, for some of the "lesser" known sins... sins just the same:

Breaking the "Sabbath," the 4th of the ten commandments... common practice of exchanging the eternal 7th day (Saturday on modern Calendars) for "Sun" day... a Roman pagan day of worship... likewise, celebrating pagan holidays, such as Easter and Christmas and "Christianizing" them with our own description of why we justify them... Especially, substituting of them, for example: Passover is commanded, and Easter is the normal practice.

Turning away our "ear- hearing" from the instruction of the Torah (Prov 28:9)... resulting with one's prayers becoming an "abomination" to YHWH/GOD... serious, I think.

To falsify, in any way, the person (identity or personhood) of Yeshua (the real Jesus of the Bible)... who was/is the "Word that became flesh," (John 1:1-14, the walking, living Word of God/Torah). To propose Him in any way that defiles his purity incarnation of the Torah in the flesh, which Torah He kept and taught (Mat 5:17-19).

To reject the Savior/Yeshua, for redemption... or His Blood's efficaciousness for your sins; as to blaspheme the Holy Spirit of Grace... as to trample His Blood underfoot (Heb 10:26-29).

Careless rebuke of YHWH'S love, and not loving Him or others... and disregarding the command to be "holy;" without holiness, no man shall see YHWH/GOD (Heb 12:14).

To mistake "love" for emotion and feelings, and not practice it (YHWH'S definition of love John 14:15 and 14:23) as obedience to Torah (proper love for YHWH, Deut 6:5, 11:1, 11:13, 11:22, 13:3, 19:9, 30:6, 30:16, 30:20, Jos 22:5) and Torah's teaching how to love others (Mat 22:37-40). Be sure to understand "loving" is "doing," and doing it YHWH'S way. To do it our "own way," is sin.

Failing to look after the needs of others... widows, orphans, the helpless; gossip and slander; tolerance for evil, such as abortion and lewdness openly practiced in our society... tattoos on one's body (Leviticus 19:28- a Torah fact).

Acceptance of false teachings (which YHWH says He will send as a "test" to see if we will follow false prophets; Deut 13:3).

Syncretism (mixing Torah/YHWH'S commandments with other man-made or institutional religious practices)... very common in modern religious practice. Inclusion of all types of New Age "mysticism" (namely Eastern-Hindu religious practices) in with "church" activities... very common in our day... the "Purpose Driven" and "Post Modern, Emerging Church" paradigms... all falling under YHWH'S warning in Isaiah 8:20 (any teaching against the Torah/law of Moses)... all these are the move towards the "one world religion," of the last days... preaching peace and unity... at all cost, and mingling all religions; which is an "abomination" to YHWH... the "Babylon of the end times."

The Bible has one main instruction concerning these "mixed" abominations:

"Come out." (2Cor 6:14-18 and Rev 18:4)...

And for one final note: What is probably the greatest sin? It would seem that the greatest sin would be the first sin... that is the sin that resulted in Satan (once known as the "great worshiping angel") getting himself cast down from his lofty position...

12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! [how] art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. 15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. [Isa 14:12-15 KJV]

Namely, it was his self-centered, prideful lust for YHWH'S throne. So, if we follow his ways, and place our interest and desires in things that blow up our own ego and self-esteem, we must remember Yeshua's words, "the first shall be last and the last shall be first." Self-indulgence, lust for power, greed and disregard for others, and pursuit of pleasure and unclean lifestyles will lead to our sure destruction.

The Bible teaches us:

16 [This] I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. [Gal 5:16 KJV]

16 For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. [1Jhn 2:16 KJV]

At the near end of the Old Testament, the Prophet Malachi writes some final warnings (words of truth and instruction):

“4 Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.” (Mal 4:4 KJV)

And, at the near end of the New Testament, the Apostle John writes some final warnings (words of truth and instruction):

“12 And, behold, I [Yeshua] come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.” (Rev 22:12-15 KJV)

Both Divine Testaments end with warning us to “keep the Torah” (law of Moses), and to “do” His Commandments. The one who truly worships YHWH God, is told to do so in “spirit and in truth.”

“23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” (Jhn 4:23-24, KJV)

YHWH God is not interested in fabricated religious practices and fleshly demonstrations of men, in fact, according to the late notable Bible scholar and teacher, Derek Prince, He hates it.

For the “in spirit part,” YHWH desires our sincere inner personal, devotional love and worship, by our faith and belief in Him, from deep within the human heart-spirit (total intellectual and emotional belief and commitment, expressed as in “doing it His way.”) Followed by actually living it in our daily lives, which is the proof of our sincerity. AND, the “in truth” part, is the practice of doing the things YHWH says to do according to His Word… to do it our way, is sin.

To choose to stay in what the Bible calls sin, is to assign one's destiny to the certain consequence for the "wages of sin," which is "death" (Rom 6:23)... think about it.

The “end times” world we now live in is a serpent orchestrated cosmic illusion (Yeshua calls him [serpent-devil] the god of this world; the father lies, lying wonders and deceivableness of unrighteousness); and our world is descending further into ungodly corruption and sins of all types as defined in the bible... This is why, at the end of the age, that YHWH will send Holy angels to "one last time" preach the "Everlasting Gospel," which is the theme of our website,

So, what is the takeaway, or at the end of the day, what should we think about all this… or, better yet, how should we deal with it?
